So yes, the pattern here seems to be some temperature threshold then.

Did you check your VRM temps while stress testing?

On my system, Cinebench ran ok four times in a row, only to crash later after 30 mins of Prime95, so I don't discard the voltage to the CPU. May be your system experiences more vdroop when the VRMs become hotter?

I tried both Bios versions 1.30 and 1.30A but none of them solved the problem.
The Intel 8265 is not available in Windows after an restart. As soon as you enter the Bios, without changing anything, just save and restart, the Intel 8265 works fine till the next restart.
Is there another M.2 wireless card which works for sure with my Mainboard ?

Thanks in advance

Hello!
I'm just returning to the PC world after my MacPro finally crapped out with no suitable alternative from Apple available. First Windows build in 12 years. I have a medium tech knowledge and am good at least following directions. I'm not trying to be all overclocky just yet. Just trying to get a RAID on my system drive at the moment.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to RAID these Samsung 960EVO M.2 NVMe drives. Is it even possible with this board? Ive installed Windows 10 on one of the drives and tested my whole setup for a week so I know everything works.

All three drives are in M.2 slots. Here are the steps I've been taking:

1. In UEFI>Tools> EasyRAID Installer - copies RAID driver from support dvd
2. Advanced tab> Change SATA mode to RAID
3. Save/exit
4. This is where the onscreen instructions in the UEFI differ from every other methods on other boards including other Asrock MBs. The instructions under the Easy RAIDInstaller state that once you copy the RAID files to USB drive, then you can precede with installing the operating system.

So, I installed the OS but only one drive is mounted in File Explorer.

- All drives are present in Disk Management and display as NFTS healthy etc.
- In Device Manager>Disk Drives, all three drives are present.
- Under Other Devices, 3 RAID controllers have caution signs on them.

Other videos/advice say to enable Storage OpROM policy in order to remap the drives.

Back to square one. Cleared CMOS formatted the drives and went through steps 1-3

4. Reboot into UEFI. Under Boot>CSM>Storage OpROM policy, select enable.
5. Save/Exit
6. Reboot into UEFI Advanced> RAIDXpert2 option appears and that is as far as I get. There is no option to enable remapping. Any options within RAIDexpert2 show that 0 physical drives are present. Creat RAID is grayed out. And that seems to be where the instructions in the UEFI dead end.

Here is what I've been referencing in addition to numerous Google searches:

Asrock Taichi Manual:
http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/RAID/X99%20Taichi/English.pdf

RAIDXpert2:
http://support.amd.com/TechDocs/53987_RAIDXpert2_User_Guide.pdf

This excellent thread:
http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4122&PN=2&title=raid-setup-menu

This video is on the Asrock x399 Taichi page even though it is a different board and the bios differs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qg1Vvh67Efw&t=67s

I'm sure I am missing a simple step here but at this point, I'm stumped. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction before I cry real man tears.

Best,

-Lee

Quick question if you don`t mind:
Should I just go for latest version?    Would that work out ok staright from what I have, 2.01?
I think I will do it before I install the OS, so just dealing with the BIOS screen, or F6.

Since I am using Hyper-V, SVM must be enabled.  With SVM enabled, all but the bottom rear USB 3.1 Type-A ports do not work.  Anyone with ideas?  Thanks and enjoy, John.

Hello everyone,

Below, I have provided a link to a video of the problem in action. Essentially, my computer crashes minutes after booting and I receive a Dr. Debug error code 00.

I have everything set at defaults, the BIOS has been updated, I have disassembled and reassembled everything (for any seating problems), removed all unnecessary system hardware. In all respects this is a new build. I would also like to add that I have never experienced this problem in the UEFI-BIOS or Windows Safe Mode.

Here is my build:

Windows 10, 64 bit

AMD R7 1700

Asrock X370 Gaming K4 (updated to 3.20 BIOS)

Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1

G.Skill 3000 @ 15-15-15-35

EVGA B2 750w PSU

I have had this build since April 2017, and at the beginning there was no problems, everything was working properly as it should after the initial build. I began experiencing this problem in early June and this problem has persisted regardless of what I have done to fix it.

Does anyone have experience with this problem, or have any advice on how to fix it? I am totally at a loss as to what I can do. I have swapped my GPU with another to eliminate the GPU as a possible reason, and I have made sure the CPU cooler was properly attached (I have tried both the stock cooler and an aftermarket cooler) and ensured enough thermal paste was applied (and applied properly). I have also used SSD/HDD utilities to review the health of my drives, everything seems to indicate that my drives are healthy. I have also erased and reinstalled Windows on different SSD's and the problem still persists.

Furthermore, in my system I have 2 HDD & 2 SSD attached. However, in the BIOS I can't select them in the boot options menu. I can see them in the BIOS, and I can set the boot priority, but when I try to set the boot options it does not allow me to boot all my drives. I don't know if this is a related problem to my main issue, but perhaps it is an indicator that my motherboard is bad.

My gut tells me that I am going to need to RMA either my processor or my motherboard if I can't find a solution.

A thing of note that I have recently discovered: Apparently, if I increase the voltage going to my CPU (1.375v), it allows my computer to boot up and stay on for a decent while, however the problem still occurs after an hour or so. If I keep my CPU at stock voltages (3GHZ @ 1.1875v) the problem occurs seconds after bootup. I have no idea what this could indicate, and I am unsure if this issue is caused by the motherboard, CPU, or power supply.

Here is the video of the problem in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGf5kYS3ID4

Thanks for the assistance! I desperately hope we can solve this problem I am having!

And YES. As daytonyb suggested, I would install the latest BIOS, P3.10 only after you deem your machine stable.

The Current P2.10 is way way outdated now. P3.10 will bring it current with AGESA 1.0.0.6b.

Ehm, if the test bios L2.34 updated Agesa to 1.0.0.6, i don't understand how the last test version L2.36 (before the official 2.40) can revert back Agesa to 1.0.0.4.

UPDATE: The distributor approved my RMA, and what's more even paid for return shipping! So I think it turned out pretty well and I learned a valuable lesson at the cost of delaying my build by a couple of weeks.

Well, they issued the RMA but its not an advanced RMA so I'm not sending my board.

I agree its unlikely to be a hardware problem so this wouldn't solve anything anyway.

I can still return this board to amazon so perhaps I'll pick up an Asus or Gigabyte board instead.

Subject: X299 Overclock Per Core
Posted: 23 Sep 2017 at 4:55am

I have an Asrock X299 Taichi motherboard. I overclocked my Intel 7820x to 4.4ghz. I have been able to overclock at a relatively low voltage of 1.125 volts. While rendering in Cinema 4d, I can render for extended periods and never get out of the mid-70s using my AIO (on quiet mode). I would like to run my machine at 4.6 GHz as Adobe After Effects works better with higher frequencies. In order to hit 4.6 GHz, I generate too much heat while rendering in Cinema 4D (it creates as much heat as AIDA64). I could create two different profiles for the different programs, but I don't want to bounce around with my settings. I would rather just leave it on one setting. Unfortunately, my Core #3 runs about 8 degrees hotter than the other cores. If Core #3 was cooler, 4.6 GHz temps would be much lower. To keep Core #3 cooler, I would like to run all cores at 4.6 GHz and run Core #3 at 4.4 GHz.

Is it possible to do that using per core settings?

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Kevin
