Hello, I bought the specified motherboard as well as the rest of the PC recently and I'm encountering some issues. I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 cpu, an antec 650w 80 plus bronze psu with a pretty old power cord so there's a possibility that's the problem but I'm not sure.

Anyway, when I turn on the PC I can see red lights all around the chipset and it automatically shuts off after about 10 seconds of running, turns back on after about a second and repeats the process. Monitor shows black screen.

I assumed the problem was with the power supply but I checked all the connections and they seemed fine, all the cables are firmly in the right slots, and the power cord issue seems like a bit of a reach considering the red light as well as the fact that it technically does turn on.

Soo... what do I do? Thanks in advance.

Board model: B450 Steel Legend
BIOS version: 3.40
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3600 BL2K8G36C16U4W

Notes:

XMP does not work, period. The PC will fail to boot and the fans will run at full speed. I have to force it to shut down by holding the power button.

Turning the PC on again, the computer will try to train the memory 3 times before failing and setting the RAM speeds back to 2666MHz.

Downgrading back to 3.20 allows the XMP to work, but I get WHEA correctable errors in Windows.

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Unknown Error Source
Error Type: Bus/Interconnect Error
Processor APIC ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

Lowering speeds to 3200 seems to remove all WHEA errors.

Please list your full specs:

CPU
RAM (model number and brand)
GPU
PSU
any M.2 storage you may have

It is common with AM4 systems for the first POST to take a while with several
power cycles occurring while the system "trains" the RAM. Leave the system powered
on for 5 mins or so and see if it eventually outputs a display. Once it has, it
will POST more normally from that point onward.

The red LEDs are just the board's RGB lighting, they are typically set to red by
default. This is not an indication of an issue.

So I went from bios version 2.90 to 3.20 to find out that when using static core clock values for CPU frequency or even leaving every at default values as for PBO and what not, I can never see by clock speeds reach the exact values. I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600X and when on default settings will max boost on the fastest cores to 4392Mhz (it's always a 8Mhz difference for some reason) instead of the 4400Mhz I get with Bios version 2.90. It does the same thing for static overclocking values as well. It did this as well in Bios version 2.90 but disabling Spread Spectrum fixed it. This is not the case in both recent Bios version 3.20 and 3.30 which I both tested but decided to go back to 2.90 cause I find this really annoying. If somebody finds a fix for this or a dev can help me out with a beta bios this would be awesome to be able to keep my bios updated and with no annoying bugs, thank in advance.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 2 sticks - Kingston KVR26N19S8/8 8GB 2666MHZ - installed into slots 2 and 4
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1650 super
PSU: ANTEC PSU 650W Neo Eco Modular 80+
SSD: SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB SDSSDA-240G-G26

And thank you, I'll try that, I thought the red light thing indicated a problem. Is there a way to change the light colour to something less... Intimidating? If it does end up working?

Hello again, it's been 30 minutes but it still isn't showing anything on the display and it keeps powering on and off. Is it relevant that I'm using a TV and connecting it via HDMI and not the regular fat cable? I tried connecting to both the graphics card and the motherboard but there's no change.

Why does after running the start fan test option does 100% power show less of a RPM than 90% power? 80% power shows 1131RPM, 90% shows 1238RPM, but 100% shows 1144RPM.
Does it have something to do with how they're wired? It's 4 Noctua 140mm exhaust fans run together with a 4 way splitter and an extension cable off of 1 header. I contacted Noctua and the 4 are well under 1 amp and 12 volts.

Raining here all weekend so thought I'd mess with the ram again. This time I used AMD Ryzen Master. In Game Mode set it to Auto Overclocking and the memory clock and fabric clock to 1800. Checked it with CPU-Z and the ram was at 1800 in the bios but the timings were higher than the XMP profile, 26-25-25-25-58-85. It booted into Windows. Reset the timings back to XMP profile's 18-22-22-22-42-65. It went into a boot loop. Voltage was still at 1.35V. Managed to get back into the bios and tried increasing the ram voltage to 1.40V, No go. Set it back to 1600. Stuck there for now.

First make sure all power cables are connected properly both at the motherboard end and at the power supply end (also do not forget to hook up the 8 pin CPU power connector to the board, very common mistake to forget that one). Also try to disconnect all the front port case headers including the USB ports from the motherboard and instead start up the system by shortening the power header connectors on the motherboard using a flat head screwdriver. If this works it is a possibility the chassi front panel I/O with all the cables going to the motherboard unit is broken and need to be re placed. (this is not too uncommon when installing new systems in old cases).

Subject: AB350M Pro 4 Question About RAM Compability
Posted: 24 Aug 2020 at 3:22am

Hello everyone,

I was thinking of upgrading my RAM further a bit and I came across these two great deals on Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks. I am currently running two 2x4GB 2666mhz Corsair Vengeance sticks.

1. Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 1.35V XMP 2.0 Black CMK16GX4M2B3200C16
2. Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz CL16 1.35V XMP 2.0 Black CMK16GX4M2D3000C16

My question is: Are these ram sticks compatible with my build? Has anybody faced any troubles with them?

My specs:
Asrock AB350M Pro4
Ryzen 3 1200 @3.7 Ghz Summit Ridge
GTX 1060 6GB
Seasonic M12II-EVO 520W PSU

Also I could not find Memory QVL for Summit Ridge CPU's in the official page of my mobo. It has disappeared for some reason.

Thank you for your answers.

Subject: X99 BIOS P3.30 not enough for Windows version 2004
Posted: 25 Aug 2020 at 6:54am

Hi, I was just told by Microsoft, after upgrading from Windows Pro version 1909 to Windows Pro version 2004, upon finding that one of the subsequent upgrades (Cumulative Update: KB4566782) would not install, I was informed that my BIOS is not compatible with Version 2004, and that I must upgrade my BIOS.

First off I am suspect, but secondly, in searching for ANY bios for my X99 WS board, I don't see anything from the asrock website, or from the asrock beta website in terms of an upgrade to my existing P3.30 bios.

So what gives? I'm also a bit surprised that nowhere on the asrock-bios-update webpage do I see what the current version is for my mobo? It's an "X99 WS"

I only see the beta bios for X99 Extreme 11 (3.41), and X99 Taichi (1.82)

Yes, I'm guilty of still having a Haswell cpu from 2014, and I'm running 2X 2080 Ti's on that system for rendering. Works great. But does this mean I have to stay on Version 1909 for Windows 10? Really?

Please advise, thx.

Well, this is embarrassing.

The asrock link here:
http://www.asrock.com/support/index.asp?cat=BIOS

does not show anything for the X99 WS.

The asrock link here:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20WS/
when you click on support and then you click on BIOS shows this:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20WS/#BIOS

I guess my problem is partially solved already because (I got luck and clicke don a few more links) I can see an update to bios 3.50
