Hi There all,
-posted this in an older forum page, but i hope it helps-
I'd like to report, if still relative to anyone, that I did get my new R5-3600x running nice and normal using bios 5.81 on my Asrock b350 Fata1ity itx/ac FINALLY after days of tinkering with Corsair and Ballistics kits and posted bioses up to 6.0. To no avail even though with 1st gen Ryzen 1600, 1700 and 2400G had no probs with any reasonable setting or over clocks. Then I got a 16G kit of G-Skills 3200C16D-16GSXKB-16-18-18-38 from a friend in exchange for my Ballisticts kit. Soon after I managed to get into the bios after days of tinkering between my R5-1600 and bios' 4.70, 5.30, 5.70, and 6.0 which none of let me enter the bios with my usual AMD fore mentioned 3000 Corsair and 3200 Ballistics. Then I tried the G-Skills and got into bios 5.70 more often during boot cycles which I had let run over and over till it stopped cycling w/ just fans were full throttle and try again changing bios setting until i got less and less cycles between successful bios screens. what I realized is, Gen 1 boards or Gen 3 Ryzen 5 or the combo needs 1.4v on memory, memory set to 3000mhz because max Infinity Fabric on Gen 1 boards is 1500 max and it defaulted here setting different mem and voltage though all my attempts at successful boots. Also I cant restart the board, must be fully shut down to enable a stable boot that is and has been stable through all my test. Sometimes, i still get a boot cycle but only 1-3 times max and retain all setting as default in bios 5.81 (the ONLY bios that works for me WITH THESE G-SKILLS) Also, it improved further when after enabling XMP and setting mem down to 3000 with 1.4v, I then tightened timings from the stock 16-18-18-38 down to 14-16-16-34 and now my system is pretty consistent in all my benches and games, peppier and higher scores. eg. Cinebench before tightening was 1075 score :( to 1635 :) So, I hope this is helpful for someone out there. My games no longer experience the stuttering they once were with my R5-1600 being bottle necked. Now a Happy Camper here and new life out of my 1080ti and work bench!

Can't confirm this. Having the Taichi z390 ultimate and the Samsung 970 evo plus 1TB, i get the expected 3-3.5 GB/s read/write
So the score of prizm is indeed out of of any reasonable range. Hard to say why. IMO there are also no settings in the BIOS for the M.2 slots, they are just listed.

There are specific drivers for that 970 evo: https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/970evoplus/
There is also a newer firmware for the same: https://bartechtv.com/samsung-releases-new-firmware-for-970-evo-plus-that-resolves-macos-compatibility-issues/

Applied both successfully, but anyway that nvme for me did run as expected also with the usual firstly installed standard drivers of windows.

Intel Motherboards : Z390 Taichi VRM overheat?

Recently I've been asking ASRock support about VRM temperatures.
Z390 Taichi Ultimate 9900K S36 AIO 32Gb RAM and case with good fans to offer a good airflow.
Everything in stock.
15 minutes of Prime95 smallFFT
HWInfo (latest version) shows me
in ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate (IR5201)
VRLoop1 111 C

in CPU Intel Core 9900K: Perfomance Limit Reasons
IA: VR Thermal Alert Yes

Room temperature 23 C

If I put one ML140 to blow to the VRM area - tempertaures are lower, like 100C after 30 min. But I don't feel safe with these temperatures anyway.

Support told me that this program might be wrong, so I should check what A-tuning utility shows me. I REALLY didn't want to install it again - after recent events with 1.65V on RAM. But I did it once - and I can't find anything similar. There is only CPU and MB temperatures - they are OK, HWinfo shows it as well.

This is VRM, or am I wrong?
Where I can find it on A-tuning, to show it to the support?

AMD Motherboards : safe voltages on B450M Pro 4 with Ryzen 2600x

Subject: safe voltages on B450M Pro 4 with Ryzen 2600x

Hello all,

I recently built a computer with a Ryzen 2600x, a B450M Pro 4 (bios 3.5), and 2 sticks of ram (I know Ryzen is fiddly with ram so here's the exact one I got https://www.newegg.ca/ballistix-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820164125?Item=N82E16820164125&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-)

With all settings on stock (xmp disabled - ram showing up as 2400 in windows and Ryzen Master) I am seeing voltages (vcore) that range from .7 to 1.45. I am looking at Ryzen Master as well as HWiNFO and I ran several different Windows Power Options. On Power Saver it usually sticks to .7-.9, on Performance it stays somewhere in the range of 1.2 to 1.45 usually around 1.4 and on Balanced it ranges from .7 when I am doing literally nothing (idle) to 1.45. The thing is on Balanced it jumps to 1.4 when I just move my mouse. It seems to me these voltage numbers are a bit high. Am I wrong about that? I'm a bit of a noob, first time building a computer and all. At work I have an i7 that never goes above 1.1v. These Ryzen numbers seem a bit high? Are they safe? What is the range of safe voltages for my setup? And if I do decide to bring down these numbers how would I do it?

General:
a) 2 single rank sticks in A2/B2 will have the most potential for high clocks.
b) 2 dual rank sticks in A2/B2 will be a bit behind a)
c) 4 single rank sticks will behave like b)
d) 4 dual rank sticks will have the lowest clock.

You have 4 d)
Your links are showing c)

It is normal, that this RAM config runs with 2933CL14.

Test the RAM with only two sticks in A2/B2, another test with two sticks in A1/B1. And then think about the 4 stick usage...

Anyway, if you want to reach 3200CL16 or 3200CL14 or higher, you obviously have to dive deeper for RAM, voltages and mainboard configuration.

Use the Ryzen DRAM Calculator and study the docu.
And take a look to the results from other users.

That has nothing to do with your M2 SSD.
I think, 0xA8 DXE_SETUP_VERIFYING_PASSWORD means, that the bios startup has reached the stage, where it would ask for a bios password, if one is set.
The bios just shows that because of a problem probably in the next stage, whatever that is.

And you did clear CMOS with the button while the board was switched off and the PSU unplugged from the wall?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UAqSzfpCjw&t=410s AMD reduced Ryzen 3000 boost clocks to avoid damage, says ASUS employee..

I think amd have reduced the clockspeeds with the agesa 1003abb and chipset driver update, and they did it because the cpu's cant handle where they were clocked at.. I think this is also why we arent seeing any stock resupply of the 3900x's.

X470 Taichi Ultimate
Bios: 3.40
CPU: 3700x

After update from 3.20 (which works mostly fine), motherboard is unable to save any changes. Every boot of the board has it stall and reset itself to defaults. Reverted back to 3.20 for now. I had this same behavior on 3.30 as well. Hopefully it is fixed at some point. Disabling onboard wifi currently does not work.

Prime small FFT especially newer version push the VRM and CPU too hard.
Did you look at current IOUT ? 184-187A is very close to limit.
Max safe current for 9900K is 193A and that is not for sustained run.

Solution : use Prime 95 26.6 with fixed 1344K or ASUS realbench instead.
With these test my Z370 taichi got 90C VR loop 1 temperature. Put small fan blow over VRM heatsink and it never exceed 63C even ambient temperature at 34C.

Go to the bios and search for ACPI setting entries.

In my bios i have:
Advanced\ACPI Configuration
Suspend to RAM: DISABLED (at least until your setup is running fine)
ACPI HPET Table: ENABLED

There are maybe some other ACPI related options somewhere else.

And you should post infos for the used board revision, bios version and CPU.
