X399M - BIOS 3.30, ThreadRiper 1900X, 2 - GIGABYTE AORUS M.2 2280 512GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 3D TLC ToshiBa BiCS3 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) GP-ASM2NE2512GTTDR Drives.

I use the instructions to set RAID and "Create Array" is always greyed out.

Here is a link to the RAID instructions under: 1.4 UEFI RAID Configuration (for AMD X399, X370, B350, and A320 Chipsets)

AGESA Combo-AM4 0.0.7.2 was also used for Athlon 2xxGE series APU.

@deemon: bios 5.50 should be the best for an old Ryzen 1700.

Hi,

I updated my X470 Mobo from 1.4 to 1.9 then to 3.3 per instructions on Asrock website. Before I update the BIOs I also updated the driver packages as instructed. The update was done with Ryzen 3 1200. Windows 10 was loaded and BIOs updated to 3.3. After I switch to Ryzen 5 3600, the computer will not boot to even BIOs options screen, the power is on and off in a loop every 10 seconds. Please help to resolve this issue. Thanks

Not specifically related to this bios update, I have had a similar issue (10 second reboot loop) in the past, and found it was my motherboard was grounding out on something. Maybe something got bumped during Ryzen 3K install and it is contacting the case in a way it wasn't before? Remove motherboard from case and see if it boots then? Just an idea. I can see how that is frustrating.

Hi I found my problem with my X470 Master SLi/AC mobo with Ryzen 3600. I hope the following details will help someone.
I followed all the BIOs update instructions from Asrock website, and I am in Bios 3.5. What I made the mistake was that I was getting sloppy swapping between Ryzen 1200 and 3600 to do the updates. The Thermo paste was overflowing and shorting some of the 3600 pins. After I clean it, and I was able to boot to Bio screen. However, I notice the booting sequence stuck at the Bios options screen. Then, I have to press "f6" to force it to boot from my M.2 drive. It seems to happen whenever I made any changes to the bios setting. Now, it is stable and boots to windows every time.

One thing I notice is that my Rams are running at 2666mhz instead of 3000Mhz. I still need to do more researching on this topic. If anyone knows the fix, please let me know.

Thanks

Dear Patsfan71,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

Regarding your case, we provide some suggestion to try.
1.     Clear CMOS to load BIOS default.
2.     Only install one stick memory to each memory slots to try.
Also, please provide your CPU and memory model name.

Thank you!
Yours truly,

AMD Motherboards : Downgrading BIOS

Hi all,
A few weeks ago I updated the BIOS on my ASRock B450 ITX MB from 1.30 to 3.50 via the flash utility in order to run my new Ryzen 3600. The update installed successfully and the computer ran reasonably well, apart from a pretty slow boot time and Fast Boot not working properly. However it has now developed a problem of losing the BIOS settings every couple of days and then when I was looking on the BIOS update page for new updates I noticed that it says "If the current BIOS version is older than P1.70, please update BIOS to P1.70", which I did not see the first time. https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20B450%20Gaming-ITXac/index.us.asp#BIOS
( I really think the layout of the descriptions is very poor by ASRock and is partly to blame for this)

Anyway, I have been looking into downgrading the BIOS to 1.70 and then updating back up to 3.50 again in order to fix the problems I've been having.

My first question is, Is this missed update what is likely causing my problems, and would downgrading to 1.70 and then updating to 3.50 be the solution?

My second question is, Why do ASRock MBs require a transitional update like this at all? No other MB I've owned has ever had this requirement. Surely new BIOS updates are entirely self-contained and they completely write over the old BIOS, so why would they need a transitional update? It kind of suggests that each BIOS version is not entirely self contained and downgrading might not be actually work on ASRock boards. Is this correct?

Thanks for any help.

I forgot to mention, the value that must be entered for the SoC voltage is a VID or VoltageID, not the actual voltage value for the SoC, this ID is used in a formula to calculate the actual voltage and it's in hexadecimal notation.
The formula is printed in the help tip in the right side of the UEFI screen, when you put the cursor over this field.
SoCV = 1.55V - (Hex2Dec(VID) * 0.00625V))

So, if you want to enter 1.025V for the SoC voltage, the value in hexadecimal would be 54.
0x54 = 84 decimal
84 x 0.00625V = 0.525V
1.55V - 0.525V = 1.025V
I will list the most common values that I saw while using the calculator for this SoC Voltage field, so you don't have calculate them
0.975V --> 5C
1.0V --> 58
1.025V --> 54
1.05V --> 50
1.1V --> 48

If anybody found this useful, please report back. Or if anybody found something that can improve this method or an alternate different method, please report back too.

I'm having the exact same problem. Updated to BIOS 3.1 and BMC 1.6.

I am however able to remote in and choose my boot device manually. If I do not, I get stuck on "Update FRU System device"

Doesn't always happen though. Sometimes I reboot and everything works fine. Flakey.

This motherboard is very unstable. Try disabling device inventory in BIOS, for me it works better after doing that.

And for the watchdog, i found that Linux kernel try to load sp5100_tco module but it has to load ipmi_watchdog module.
With the good module, watchdog works fine.

Also something I don't understand is on one of my card i have the choice for network interface between eth0 and eth1 with a new "bonding" menu for bond0. And I don't have these settings on the 2 other cards.

I think it depends on how the M2 are connected to the CPU.

Anyway, since I can't know for sure based on the manual or from here, I went ahead and bought the MB, will report back here the results of my testings. Hopefully I will be able to use all 8 SATA, otherwise I'll just return the board, since this is one of the main reasons I selected this MB.

Intel Motherboards : A-tuning utility RAM voltage issue.

Warning. A-Tuning already kill my 8700K and almost kill Z370 Taichi.

Long story short. Don't use it.

I set VCCSA in BIOS to 1.15V (enough for 3500Mhz RAM) then I see empty VCCSA voltage reading in A-Tuning so I hit + one time which bring it to 1.16V and - one time which bring it back to 1.15V but once hit apply I notice A-Tuning apply 1.7V+ on VCCSA. Once I saw that I turn off PC immediately. Luckily at that time there was no damage.

Several months later there was no issue (I play with A-Tuning very regulary) until I saw CLKVDD voltage as empty reading again in A-Tuning. So I hit + one time and - one time again in hope that it will read. But once I hit apply my PC shut down and there was burning smell / bomb sound. I check my CPU and it is dead. There was physical damage to my CPU. Motherboard socket also burned.

So I try to contact RMA service in my country. They accept motherboard repair but not CPU. Later I contact Intel and they agree to accept my RMA.

I also contact Asrock Taiwan via e-mail but they never reply to me about issue with this sh*tty program.
Asrock in my country repair motherboard for free and never ask any question. They are much better than Asrock headquarter.

Please uninstall that crappy program if you don't want to damage CPU or motherboard.

To Asrock technical support it is very easy to reproduce issue. Please fix your program ASAP.

1.Install A-Tuning on Z370 Taichi (probably Z390 Taichi also like OP).
It seem to have bug with only Z370-Z390 not sure but I NEVER had this problem before with Z77 OC Formula (formula drive), Z87 Extreme 4 , Z87 Fataility Professional , Z87 OC Formula (formula drive) , Z170 OC Formula (formula drive).

2.Run A-Tuning for more than 100 times. You will surely see empty voltage reading no less than 5 times.

3.Try adjust any voltage for more than 100 times. You will have small chance that voltage is WAYYYY higher than you set

4.Or if you want to try my claim. Once you see empty voltage on CLKVDD try + and - one time which should bring that voltage back to default. Hit apply and good luck.

Just some feedback; My system built a week ago;

R5 3600
ASRock B350m Steel Legend (Bios 2.60) (worked out of the box on 2.10)
DDR4 Corsair 16gigs 3200mhz (I manually OC to 3133mhz as the XMP would not work)
H110i GT CPU cooler (Idle 35c/Load extreme testing 75c)(Gaming around 73c max)
Coolermaster V650watt PSU
GPU- EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 (Stock OC)

Aside from getting the ram to 3200mhz, everything is 100% stable. Played for hours on end with no issues. Some quick benchmarks below (Forza 4 Ultra 8XMSAA testing for stability after ram OC)

Dear Forum,
A few days ago I got my new motherboard, the B450 Pro 4. The board runs an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and the RAM is 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX. The exact type designation of the RAM is CMK16GX4M2B3200C16.
Now I have the problem that the board operates the RAM only on 2133 frequency, although actually 3200 should be supported. In the UEFI Verson P3.2) I already tried all possible settings. But every time I have added the corresponding profile, the computer shuts down immediately after booting. It does that twice. After that it starts, but the RAM runs on the slower clock. Does anyone here have an idea that I can solve the problem?
Thank you very much for your help.

Which is a shame as it's garbage :(
