Thanks.

Boot off USB.
Reseat everything.
Don't bother with Windows, ASRock should work fine on Linux.
When it does boot, does dmesg show any errors?

I think it the CPU and the BIOS, Ryzen apparently might have problems with 3000MHz ram (it's very hit and miss).
I think the Ryzen3 is older than the Ryzen5.
I'm not convinced faster memory is worth it.

GPU - MSI Radeon RX 570 DirectX 12 RX 570 ARMOR 4G OCV1 4GB 256-Bit
850W Ultra X3 Power Supply
RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz
OS - Win 10 64bit

The Problem:

I am attempting to install Windows 10 from a bootable USB drive. It is made by Microsoft's Media Creator, the official kind so that shouldn't be a problem. The HDD is a 2TB Black WD and is fairly new, but wiped clean so it can be installed with a fresh copy of Win 10.

The issue is the computer is only giving me a black screen upon start up on both the DVI and HDMI outputs of the card and there is no BIOS/POST menu displayed. I would think that the BIOS would kick on if there was no drive to be found. I've tried having the USB stick plugged into all the onboard USB ports with no success. I also tried my OLD GTX 285 card in the PCI 1 slot and also no go. Spamming F2/DEL also do not bring anything up and I don't have an old PS/2 keyboard to ensure it is getting the input before BIOS completes.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious and any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yep, Major issue with 3.20 I so should not of upgraded but thought it would fix some issues I was having. No Idea why ASRock chooses not to have downgradable flash or a backup BIO's Literally should be a standardized architecture for mobo's. Its 2019!

Damn this forum is also out of date.. Not even an option to edit your posts lol. Unless I missed it somewhere.

Basically, I'm getting an VFIO error, Unable to power on device stuck in D3.

I doubt anyone from their support team cares about any of these posts. But ill try anyway.

Considering the following..
1: HTTPS isnt used on forums.
2: Forum looks like its from the 00s.

Hello :)

Thank's for your answer.
What did you mean by "it's very hit ans miss" ?

On my side, I think it may be good to have not too slow memory frequency but I have not made many tests on my computer to compare cpu performance with high & low memory frequencies..

Sometimes they work when overclocked, sometimes they don't.
You could try the other slots.
A new BIOS might fix it.
Are you using an XMP profile to set it to 3000MHz?
You could try increasing the voltage to the RAM but check all the specifications first.

See the Memory section of:
https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/B450M%20Steel%20Legend/#Specification
I think the Ryzen3 1200 is Summit Ridge (I hate code names).
The charts don't seem to have overclocking.
2133MHz is the lowest.
I would only think you would get that if you had 32GB.

I would try the other slots and make sure it is using an XMP profile.

You should be able to see the voltage in the BIOS, 1.2 is the default.
If it doesn't see XMP, you'll need to set everything manually.
Increase the speed to 3000MHz and the voltage to 1.35 and 15-17-17-35 but XMP is easier.

BIOS releases most certainly can fix the memory speed, but:
1. Choosing a non-validated memory for a given mobo is at your OWN risk. No guarantees it will run at its advertised speed. Thas's why QVL exist.
2. Ryzen 3 1200 won't benefit much (if at all) from faster memory. I can't think of a reasonable workload for that particular CPU where memory could be a bottleneck. Ryzen 3 1200 will certainly love RAM with tigher timings, though.

QVL in my experience never test a lot of the available RAM (which locally tend to be very limited choices).
I have yet to buy any QVL RAM and I've never had a problem getting stated speeds.
Maybe I've been lucky.

Good for you. However, this doesn't change a single word from what I said earlier.

No manufacturer can test and validate all possible combinations between components, not on a sane budget anyway. That's the reason you see quite small QVL.

You can either pick from QVL for maximum certainty; make an educated guess; or just roll the dice. Either choice comes with its consequences, no escape from causality.

I always liked how a few people on some forum (or internet in general) make some statement and automatically make it the norm, i.e. I've been blindly picking RAM for my builds and never had an issue, so the same is valid for all.

Hello :)

Originaly, I bought this corsair memory to work with my asus prime x370-pro (in the QVL) and after I tried to have them work on my new computer (asrock MB steel legend).
None XMP or manual settings make them work at 3000Mhz, it seems to be locked in 2133mhz (but I just tried XMP and 3000mhz frequency maybe it could run at other frequencies..)

Anyway, when I will buy a new ryzen 5 3xxx, I will see if there any improvements.

In the meanwhle I bought a new kit, G.Skill Ripjaws 5 (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) that doesn't figure in the asrock QVL, this time I roll the dice^^ Maybe it will perform better, the price was not expensive (87??for 2x8Go), if not I will keep it from another computer.

https://www.alternate.fr/G-Skill/16-Go-DDR4-3200-Kit-M%C3%A9moire/html/product/1227030?

I will try to think of updating this topic when I'll have the new ryzen cpu.
