Hello Bro!
I found the solution and it took me a while!
Happy to share with you!

Disable 2 options:
- ASRock Timing optimization
- Realtime Memory Timing

Everything works perfect after that!

One more suggest: if you are using Windows OS always install INF Drivers for the motherboard. It extremely increases the speed of the system.

Latest INF driver from the oficial site:
- INF driver ver:10.1.17968.8131_Public (2019/5/13)

Dear Will88,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

Regarding your case, we provide some suggestions to try:
1.     Clear CMOS to load BIOS default.
Please remove the power cord, and follow the user manual p19 to clear CMOS.
http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/Z370M%20Pro4.pdf
2.     Only install CPU and one stick memory to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.
3.     Please try to install one stick memory at A1, B1, A2 and B2 slot to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.
4.     Reinstall CPU and check if CPU socket pin is fine.
5.     If it is possible, please change another CPU or DRAM to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.

Also, please help to provide the CPU and BIOS version.
The BIOS version will show on a sticker near the BIOS ROM chip.

Thank you!
Yours truly,
ASRock TSD

Dear Onum,

Thank you for your reply.

Sorry it was my mistake that there were two versions of J3160 made.

We have checked with mini-pcie type 7260 WiFi module and it can work properly on the board.

Please try to same WiFi module on other PC to confirm Wifi module is working.
Otherwise please use different 7260 WiFi module to see if it will work.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

Forgive me for my ignorance. Is this a RGB header in the linked picture. The manual says it's the performance_Easy OC header. If so why does it say RGB_LED2? Thanks for your help.

I tried this earlier but still have the 2133mhz issue if slot 3 as you pictured has a DIMM in it

I saw on reddit that you replaced the board at some point, did those changes fix the original slot 3 issue or only fix the timing issue on the replacement board?

Thank you very much (and sorry for my late answer).

As you suggested at point 1, connecting the CPU power cable ATX 12V at the top left of the motherboard solved everything.

(Luckily were the DDR4 RAM sticks correctly inserted.)

Before that I power the computer, can someone confirm me if this is the correct way to power the CPU of the X470 Taichi motherboard?

The PSU is a Seasonic Gold X-series SS-650KM Active PFC F3.

The CPU cable has 8 pins on the PSU side and 2 x 4-pin sockets on the mainboard side.

The mainboard has a 8-pin socket for ATX12V1 and a 4-pin socket for ATX12V2.

Can also someone explain the role of each of the ATX12V1 and ATX12V2 sockets?
Thank you very much.

N.B. I also have on hand several CPU/PCI-E cables, which go to the 12-pin sockets on the PSU side and split into 6 + 2 pins on the mainboard side.

Just a warning to people out there thinking of upgrading to the new 5.30 bios for the x370 gaming k4 (the one that enables Ryzen 3000 support) - don't.

Once again, Asrock's software engineers have put out ANOTHER buggy bios update which has plagued me with code 12 errors ever since upgrading.

And the hilarious thing is - you cant downgrade! So now we have to wait for Asrock's software engineers to fix this issue which who knows how long that will take.

Asrock - this is a serious issue! Putting out bios updates riddled with bugs that you CANT downgrade from is ridiculous. You have tarnished your reputation and this will be the last Asrock product that I buy since I can no longer trust the quality of your software updates.

I now have a computer which throws core errors and code 12 errors ever since updating the bios and I cant do a damn thing to fix it because Asrock is too cheap to hire decent quality assurance staff.

Asrock - at least release a tool that will let your customers downgrade in the (extremely likely) event that your software engineers bugger it up! Releasing buggy bios updates with no way to go back is just idiotic.

Just fyi, Ive cleared cmos, reset to defaults, tried lower memory speeds and even re-installed windows - same issues, which only popped up after the bios upgrade.

So disappointed in Asrock.

I actually didn't replace it. I ordered ASUS but at the last moment I found those 2 options on my ASRock and it worked for me. I sent back ASUS.
Now I use my ASRock Taichi Ultimate Z390 with all 4 slots, 64 Gb of memory on 3200Ghz (and higher) without any issues. You can see it on the screenshot on the top.

Have you tried to update BIOS? Maybe it could help?

Intel Motherboards : Black Screen, Boot Order, and BIOS

NOTE - I haven't built a PC in years. I will probably ask a stupid question or overlooks something totally obvious so please forgive me. With that depreciating statement:

The Basics:

ASRocks Xtreme4
CPU- Intel i7 - 5960X
GPU - MSI Radeon RX 570 DirectX 12 RX 570 ARMOR 4G OCV1 4GB 256-Bit
850W Ultra X3 Power Supply
RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz
OS - Win 10 64bit

The Problem:

I am attempting to install Windows 10 from a bootable USB drive. It is made by Microsoft's Media Creator, the official kind so that shouldn't be a problem. The HDD is a 2TB Black WD and is fairly new, but wiped clean so it can be installed with a fresh copy of Win 10.

The issue is the computer is only giving me a black screen upon start up on both the DVI and HDMI outputs of the card and there is no BIOS/POST menu displayed. I would think that the BIOS would kick on if there was no drive to be found. I've tried having the USB stick plugged into all the onboard USB ports with no success. I also tried my OLD GTX 285 card in the PCI 1 slot and also no go. Spamming F2/DEL also do not bring anything up and I don't have an old PS/2 keyboard to ensure it is getting the input before BIOS completes.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious and any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What was the reason for updating your BIOS?

Did you go straight from 1.60 to 4.00 without any updates in-between?

I'm on 3.10 but many have said it's sh*t for overclocking and there's still unacceptable vdroop even on the most aggressive LLC1 setting with fixed voltage.

I never tried 1.60 as my board came with newer versions, but I think a lot of performance has been lost with all the microcode updates from everything I've read across multiple forums.

Win 10 has all it's own patches so I'm thinking of downgrading to 1.60 or even earlier to see if overclocking is more stable and better performance since I doubt the risks for a home PC are as scary as the media has made things out to be.
Plus, it seems every other month they find a new vulnerability which tells me that these CPU's are flawed in general and if hacked intel will only look after the corporations and us home users are screwed anyway.

You will need their help and instructions to flash back to an earlier version. Unfortunately, there is no way we can really help you on the forums as we don't have access to the tools you need unless ASRock's Tech Support representative on the forums here sees your post.

In the mean time, try clearing CMOS, you may just have some bad registers that didn't clear after the update.

What BIOS are you on? Do you update to the latest, or stick with the best performer?

Hello

Just to say that the problem is solve... i use displayport instead of hdmi and it works... thx amd

Now i have to find a workaround for both the unwanted reboot and the freeze on linux. ASROCK was kind enough to remove the option to get "typical current idle" in the AB350 itx bios that remove the freezing problem, but still present in the X370 itx bios...
