check that your cpu is installed correctly.

https://forum.level1techs.com/t/list-of-dr-debug-bios-codes/114364

Its fairly easy to get it wrong, amd doesnt really mark their cpu's as well as they should. I have bad eyesight and i really have to pay attention to the cpu rotation..

Subject: Looking for clarification: B450M Steel Legend
Posted: 26 Aug 2019 at 4:06am

Hello, hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. I am putting together my first build in over 8yrs and I decided to try an AMD build. I put together the following build using PCpartpicker:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PJCL6s

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-core - CPU
ASRock B450M Steel Legend Micro ATX AM4 - MB
G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200 - MEM
Zotac Geforce GTX 1660 6GB - GPU
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W - PSU

When putting this build together I kept getting a boot loop (lights and fans turn on for 15 seconds plus or minus over and over). I did all the basic build steps to fix a loop (moved memory around, reset Cmos, disassembled and reassembled build..etc). I even tried to use a Motherboard speaker but it appears this board doesn't have a hookup for them.

So at a complete loss, I went on to ASRock's support page and found that ASRock B450 Steel Legend is more finicky with parts than pcpartpicker lets on. You have to buy specific model numbers for compatability. Even though PCpartpicker says my G-skill memory is compatible, looking at the following list of compatible memory that is not the case.

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450%20Steel%20Legend/index.asp#MemoryPR

So I went out and bought new memory: DD4 Corsair 2400 16GB CMK32GX4M2A2400C14      SS 2/4

Plugged these bad boys in and I got the same loop, just a more expensive loop...

Perplexed, I now went to look to see if my CPU is the issue. My CPU's part number is YD2600BBAFBBOX and it is not listed. The listed part number for a Ryzen 5 2600 is (YD2600BBM6IAF). :(

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450%20Steel%20Legend/index.asp#CPU

So this is the point I am reaching out for help on the forums.
1) Am I correct with these part numbers that they are incompatible and PC Part Picker is incorrect in saying they are compatible?
2) If my CPU and MB are in fact incompatible, what would my most inexpensive way forward be? A new CPU or MB with the current parts I have? Recommendations on maybe a new board without so many restrictions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I assume the HDD and the flash drive are being plugged into the same USB port on the case? Do you have any other devices plugged into any other USB ports on the case?

Hi,

I am interested in purchasing the x399 professional gaming motherboard:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20X399%20Professional%20Gaming/index.asp

However, I want to check if it supports 256GB ram kits that utilize 32GB modules:
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Memory/vengeance-lpx-black/p/CMK256GX4M8A2400C16

Corsair claims that their modules are supported by the x399 platform, but I am not sure about this particular board. I understand that ASRock lists the RAM limit at 128GB, but that may have been due to the lack of 32GB modules when x399 and the motherboard came out.

Has anyone tried those new kits on this motherboard?

Thanks!

If you are facing a blue screen error in Windows while upgrading it then these simple steps will help you solve your issue.
1: Uninstall the apps that are no longer required
2: Perform a Clean Installation
3: Disconnect unnecessary Hardware such as external hard drives, printers, secondary monitors, phones, and other USB or Bluetooth devices
4: Free up space from your PC by deleting temporary files.
After performing these steps restart your system and see whether Windows 10 BSODproblem is fixed or not.
Good Luck!!!

Alright, so he brought another PSU and tested with the computer. It didn't come on @ all. So I advised he remove the motherboard from the case, and try it (breadcumbing) and he did so. Still did not come on. He removed both ram sticks and still no power. CPU fan doesn't come on. My conclusion is that this new board is bad after just 2 weeks of usage. However, he will be returning today with another motherboard and a ryzen second generation processor. We also can't rule out the new processor I bought isn't faulty either. I will update again when I have new information.

Using M2_1 or M2_3 will disable each 2 sata ports, while using M2_2 will disable only 1 sata port, as the manual says crystal clear. It's the same (according to the description) here on my taichi z390 ultimate. Still I have my doubts if they got it right, that M2_2 only disables 1 instead of 2 sata ports. I don't exactly see the point why this should be different on M2_2.

However, not being a specialist of those things, not 100% sure that it answers my question... and what the answer is
I understand from that thread that when you connect 3 NVMe, it will disable 4 SATA connectors.
What I want to do is connect only 1 (I suppose on slot nb 2), and make sure that it will not disable any SATA connector. kissanime

Also, the last poster of that thread said he had the nvme on slot 1, and all SATA used. However, if I understand the Z390 Taichi user manual, connecting something on slot m2_1 will disable some of the SATA ports.

Check selected only UEFI USB storage for installation
Check Sata mode ACHI or Raid

Windows has been installed automatically with GPT formatted

After installation return to bios and I check the boot options m.2 SSD
But won't boot up again from SSD.It's says on screen please insert disk or usb storage.......

No, this is not a Tech Support forum, it is a community forum that ASRock
maintains (server side). ASRock Tech Support does stop by from time
to time but they do not read every thread/comment. The purpose of these forums is
for ASRock users to have somewhere to come for assistance and advice from each
other. I do my best as a moderator to help as time permits but for the most part,
this is a community and we all try to help each other wherever possible.

Intel Motherboards : A-tuning utility RAM voltage issue.

Subject: A-tuning utility RAM voltage issue.
Posted: 26 Aug 2019 at 7:34pm

Hello.
I have a Z390 Taichi Ultimate (BIOS 1.90) with a 9900K CPU and Kingston Predator HyperX 3600 4*8Gb.
For a three days I've tried to find an optimal point between overclock, fan speed and temperature.
Most settings were set at BIOS. But I was using A-tuning utility for CPU clock (limited OC 4.7-4.9 GHz) and fan speed. Once I decreased CPU voltage through the A-tuning.
I checked other settings through A-tuning several times - they were OK, but later I stopped to pay attention to them.
But yesterday I noticed thet it put 1.65V on my RAM! When RAM XPM profile requires only 1.35. No way I could set this parameter myself to this value.
I didn't check any other value, nor do I check them through the HWinfo. I immediately restarted my PC to check that in BIOS everything is OK.

Can somebody help me to understand -
Should A-tuning change other settings automatically this way?
Could it be that it was showing 1.65V, but the actual voltage was normal?
What may me damaged because of this - except the RAM, obviously. CPU? Motherboard?

I'm stress testing my system for now. It looks like I can't make it work stable at 4.9 GHz anymore, but maybe thats because I can't recall all settings correctly or maybe because I was using much earlier BIOS for these settings.
I use Testmem, linx 0.7.0 (here is a problem - it may show a different residual after like a half a hour), Prime95 (it looks like OK).

Hi,

I faced the issue myself again as well..
My boys is 1.30
Make sure no wireless adapter is connected to your system.
Cables are connected ok as well between the router and the system.
Do a bios default.
Restart the system and go back to the bios.
Enable the deep sleep.
Save and exit.
Restart the system.
Instead login to the windows. Shut simply shut down the computer.
Unplugged you power cord from the back of the computer for 3-5 minutes.
Plug the cord back.
Turn on your system.
Log into windows.
Go into device manager>network adapters. The Intel 211AT pan chip should be picked up as default now.
If so, just update the drivers to the latest one from Intel website.
If still no go. I recommend to check phisycaly the lan port pins are ok as well.
Or you can leave the OSU plug a bit longer unplugged.

I hope it works for you.
It worked for me.
Kind Regards

Attila
