So you did do a normal Windows shutdown, that is not at all clear from your first post.
Any hibernate feature is meant to survive through a power failure or removal. The question here is, what is causing this message to be displayed.
You may have built 5,000 PCs, but how many of them were with a P67 Extreme4 board and Windows 10?![Wink Wink]()
Please describe the message about coming out of hibernation mode. You see this message from a cold boot/startup? The message is not from Windows, but happens when, just after POST?
Your board has two fast startup features, ASRock Instant Start and Intel's Rapid Start. I assume neither of these are in use?
You seem to believe a BIOS update will cause this hibernation message to disappear, but why? What would a third party BIOS upgrade change to stop this mysterious message from appearing?
There is a Beta BIOS version you can find here:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/P67%20Extreme4/?cat=Beta
Have you considered that an option in the BIOS with its default setting is somehow interacting with the Windows 10 fast startup feature? Or do you have that option disabled in Windows too?
I'm guessing about possibilities since we know nothing about the nature of this "coming out of hibernation mode" message.
Are you using all default settings in the BIOS?
For example, in the South Bridge Configuration screen, the Deep Sx option. This option sets the shutdown state of the PC. Full shutdown is considered to be the S5 power state. The default value of this option is Disabled. Have you tried using the Enabled in S5 setting?
Since I can only go by the manual for your board regarding BIOS options, and manuals are rarely updated to reflect changes made in BIOS updates, there could be options in the BIOS that are not in the manual. Have you gone through the BIOS, screen by screen, looking for options that might be related to this strange message you are seeing?
Hmm, you say you have "... bios 3.0", and there is no update available. The latest and only version currently available is 3.10.![Confused Confused]()

Hmm again... I wonder if we have an infamous botched update to BIOS 3.10, the Sandy to Ivy Bridge compatibility update, that if not done correctly causes strange results. Used board sold due to that unfortunate situation?
I'm sorry but the small amount of information that you have provided, some of which has become questionable (ie, BIOS version) is making this even more mysterious.![Pinch Pinch]()

![]() parsec: ![]() No; I am choosing shutdown. Windows 10 stable edition. Nothing in the bios is set to hibernate. Everything in Windows is turned off for power saving. It never goes to sleep. It is bios 3.0. There doesn't seem to be any bios upgrade available on ASRock's website. There is an option to update the bios on boot up. I have built more than 5000 computers through my business and retirement. Computer stuff comes easy for me. I just don't want to go to a 3rd party for a bios upgrade. All I care about is the message about hibernation mode on start up. Thank you very much for your consideration! Jon A. Schoen jon.schoen@mchsi.com |
