Another issue, that asus sound card is showing as 'asmedia pci to pci bridge' in the bios. Is that right?

That "device' probably isn't your sound card. What specific ASUS card is it anyways?

More than likely it either the MBs two ASMedia SATA-III ports or the MBs two ASMedia USB 3.0 ports waiting on a driver installation from you. Wink

ASUS Xonar DGX PCI-E GX2.5 Audio Engine Sound Card

That's the pci slot its in. I am looking at the little map/picture in the bios. its the top pci slot. Not the x16 but the smaller one.

I'll be damned. It has an ASMedia ASM1083 PCIe Bridge Chip on it.

What driver(s) are you using the BETA ones or the non-BETA drivers ASUS has posted?
https://www.asus.com/us/Sound-Cards/Xonar_DGX/HelpDesk_Download/

Ive tried 3 different drivers 2 betas and the most recent non beta release. the 3.5 rear mic input does not work on the card OR the Mobo. It doesn't like 3.5 mm rear mics. However, the front mic does work and I have it bridged with the sound card. Neither rear port detects the mic. USB mics work as well. I promise its not the mic or windows. I have had a thread open on Microsofts forums for a few months now. Now that I am having issues with other mobo related stuff I am wondering if the chipset is failing.

I don't need say this yet RMA it if you feel the MB is faulty. Heck yea.

Though, from here mind you I don't feel it's the MB. I find it odd that ASUS first began production using the PLX PEX8112 bridge chip and then in later production somewhere down the line switched to a surely less expensive ASMedia ASM1083 bridge chip.

Depending on what happens when my GPU comes back I just may. What is the RMA period for this board?!
